About Got Your Six Golf

     I served in the United States Navy for 20 years.  For a lot of people, it was their duty to their country but for me it was just a job with job security for as long as I wanted it.  I retired from the Navy in August of 2006 and I hadn’t given it much thought since then, after all, that chapter of my life was closed.  Or so I thought.  I recently was invited to attend a friend’s son’s Navy bootcamp graduation at Great Lakes Naval Training Center just outside of Chicago.  Turns out it was a life-changing event for me.  When you arrive at the ceremonial hall you enter through a small naval history museum and as soon as I walked in, out of nowhere, I was so overwhelmed with emotion seeing the things that are there and I felt such a sense of reverence to those who went before me and made the Navy what it is today.  As I watched the ceremony I was thinking about my own experiences in bootcamp.  They take a group of young people, tear them down to nothing and then rebuild them all into a team.  Teamwork is drilled into your head from day one.  You succeed as a team and fail as a team.  Everything you do is for each other.  You support each other and watch out for each other.  You’ve got their back, you’ve got their six.

     Got Your Six Golf Apparel was born out of my love for the game of golf right about the same time as the graduation I attended in Chicago.  I knew I wanted to create stylish golf apparel for anyone and everyone, but I wasn’t sure what to call it.  As I watched the ceremony, the Got Your Six idea was born.  Whether you served in the military or simply believe in standing behind the people around you, Got Your Six Golf is for those who carry themselves with confidence, humility, and loyalty.  It’s about having your playing partner’s back, respecting the game, embracing discipline and building a community that feels bigger than golf itself.
